Although it is widely thought that Hitler wrote Mein Kampf he actually dictated it to Rudolf Hess while he was in prison from 1923-24. Reading Mein Kampf is like listening to Hitler speak about his youth, the early days of the Nazi Party, his future plans for Germany, and ideas on politics and race. In his book Hitler refers to people in categories of appearance, establishing higher and lower orders, and types of humans. At the top of Hitler's human period is a race he calls the an Aryan, or blonde haired, blue eyed, and fair skinned people, that he sees as the supreme or master race. However, when there is a supreme race there has to be a lower race, which he placed on the Jews. In his book Hitler's book refers to the Jewish as "parasites, liars, dirty, crafty, sly, wily, clever, without a true culture, a middleman, a maggot, repulsive, monsters, foreign, menace, bloodthirsty, the destroyer of the Aryan humanity, and the moral enemy of the Aryan humanity". When Mein Kampf was first released in 1925 it sold poorly, but when Hitler became Chancellor of Germany millions of copies were sold.
